Preserving 1,100 square miles of volcanic grounds, including spectacular flood basalt and lava flows, the Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve affords visitors both views of a stunning, rare natural phenomenon and the opportunity to explore Idaho's outdoor activities. Popular activities at the park include taking the scenic 7-mile loop drive through the park, hiking along miles of trails and camping at the seasonally open Lava Flow Campground. Surrounded by miles of Idahoan desert and bordered by the Pioneer Mountains,the monument is just off the highway about 19 miles southwest of Arco.
Visitor center open daily Memorial Day - Labor Day: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.; Labor Day - Memorial Day: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Entry fee: Vehicles $8; Individuals $4; Children 15 and under are free. Overnight rates vary, check website for details.
